Maddie’s three girls, Rosie, Ruby and Ramona, and two boys, Rollie and Ramsey, are five weeks old as of last Friday. They wrestle and tumble gently, almost in slow motion. They watch across the room as the “big girls”, Kate’s Z puppies, are allowed to follow the adult dogs outside for play time. No whines of protest yet that they aren’t included, just five pairs of wide eyes taking it all in. In another week they’ll have more privileges.
These are such mellow puppies right now. You would think from their portraits that I’ve trained them impeccably to pose, but in fact they’re like little lumps of dough; they stay exactly as I place them. Their personalities aren’t developed at this age, but in some litters I wait and wait, thinking the puppies must be late in their development, when in fact they’re all going to be more on the low-key side. Time will tell.
Here’s our first boy, Rollie.
