At four weeks old, Maddie’s puppies are up and walking around their exercise pen. They remind me of Victorian ladies and gentlemen on promenade since they don’t jump or bound around yet; they hold their heads aloft and walk deliberately here and there in a serene way, and all at once. They’re quiet since they haven’t begun using their voices much – it’s all very elegant. That will change soon enough!
