The “Z” girls are six weeks and four days old today. They are gorgeous, effervescent puppies and I enjoy them so much.
Their coats are luxurious after their first bath this weekend. I placed them one at a time in the tepid water and they dunked their faces a few times in surprise. Did they wait for their shampooing in a perfect standing pose? Not at first. But I was clear about what I expected and they complied without much fuss.
They devour solid food promptly, no hesitation. Kate nurses only briefly on occasion and otherwise redirects their little mouths elsewhere with a low, warning “harrumph”.
They wrestle wildly but they are quick and bouncy on their feet, so play tends to consist of lots of running and chasing. And chewing and more chewing, on their toys, bully sticks, or each others’ tails. They have lovely dental bites so far but they endure my frequent checks as I watch the progress of their teeth.
These girls sleep nicely at night in their individual crates but they have freedom to use their piddle pad area as needed. I’m amused that they each know exactly which crate is theirs and when I place them down in front of the wrong crate, they quickly cross over to correct. Funny girls.
Here’s Zelda.
And their lively daddy, Clancy McGee, who’s somewhat rain-sprinkled here. He was determined to divert our attention away from the puppy photo session to his “look at me!” dance.
Kate had a couple of play sessions outside with Zelda and Zoe today when the skies cleared.
